In continuation with the honoring of great horror movie music, I stumbled upon not just a great movie, but its great movie theme that every time we hear it we think of one thing....MICHAEL MYERS lol and no not the actor. The one in the William Shatner mask trying to kill Jamie Lee Curtis from the classic 1978 film HALLOWEEN. In fact this was the movie first referenced the title of the holiday in a horror film. Before this film came out, halloween was considered a fun holiday where kids dressed up, went trick or treating and eventually carved pumpkins using big kitchen knives. Well, Carpenter got it right with kids dressing up in a costume and using a big kitchen knife. But what made the movie great was definately the movie theme that resonated throughout the entire plot from beginning to end. And believe it or not the man who wrote the song was....you guessed it the director himself John Carpenter. An accomplished pianist, Carpenter wrote the theme to Halloween and to this day still holds the copyrights to the song. Now thats what I call dedication to both a film and knowing good business sense.
Here is the theme, take a listen and get a few chills lol
And here is the trailer to the original film from the original 1978 film
