SEMINOLE — Countryside overpowered Seminole in the first half of the Class 7A, District 10 opener for both teams, with impact plays from running back Troy Reeves and quarterback Derek Jenkins. But the Warhawks put pressure on the Cougars with the help of running back Austin Henkel and quarterback Andrew Schaedler, and Seminole scored 16 points in the second half only to fall short in the last seconds.

Stars of the game: Countryside used the running skills of Reeves, who rushed for 72 yards and three out of Cougars' five touchdowns. Seminole's Henkel earned 152 rushing yards including a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

Play of the game: The Cougars led 24-14 in the last two minutes of the first half until, on a trick play, Jenkins ran for a 60-yard score to make it 31-14 going into halftime.
