SEMINOLE--Seminole and Osceola opened the season with their annual rivalry game, and the Warhawks – under first-year head coach Chris Miller – couldn’t hold off the Warriors in a 23-15 Osceola road win on Friday night.

Before the game, the Warhawks honored former head coach Sam Roper, who led the team for 28 seasons. For Miller, he has been warmly welcomed by both the parents and players as the new coach and said this season is about learning to win a game as well as having the strength and stamina to finish one.

“Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and it feels great,” said Miller. “The kids have have been great to teach and coach and I am proud to take over this program from Coach roper. We are moving forward now and their effort will be outstanding this season."

Seminole rode the emotion and started fast, scoring the first points of the game on a Ra'Quanne Dickens run for a 7-0 lead. He scored two touchdowns en route to a 15-8 halftime lead.

Quadarius Patterson scored at the beginning of the fourth quarter for Osceola, followed by a successful two-point conversion for a 16-15 Warriors lead.

On the ensuing possession, Wilan Harvey recorded an interception for Osceola, and then on the other side of the ball, scored a 10-yard touchdown for the 23-15 final.

Coach George Palmer of Osceola was particularly pleased to see the fourth quarter comeback on the road in a rivalry game.

“It’s always big when you win a rivalry game,” said Palmer. “Its just great as well that it was the first game of the season. To be honest I thought they had the game in the first half. But we overcame some things tonight which we hope will help us down the line in the season as well.”

According to Jamil Morris, Palmer warned him and the rest of the team that Seminole would be coming to play and they would be ready.

“I was so excited to be coming out and playing this game, said Morris. “Coach just told me to go out there and get the job done. He (Palmer) said that Seminole is going to be coming out and playing one of their best games of the season. We came out and did well tonight and I will be ready for my first home game next week.”

Seminole will be facing off at Dunedin next Friday, while Osceola will be playing their first home game against Tarpon Springs.

Gifting a fragrance is such a personal gesture. You really have to think about what the other person likes. It’s not just a scent—it’s an experience wrapped up in a bottle.
